Why we are who we are..
Pilates Physique Pilates Studio is committed to educating the community on the benefits of Pilates and to maintaining the Method as Joseph Pilates envisioned.
The Pilates Method of Exercise
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s, the Pilates Method is an innovative series of exercises that utilize abdominal control, breathing and spinal alignment in a way that effectively creates overall improved posture. By creating more body awareness from within, this unique exercise technique focuses on controlled physical and mental conditioning for greater power and flexibility while eliminating tension and strain from joints.
Pilates instruction is taught by extensively trained individuals who have completed numerous hours of training, observation and participation in the Method. Pilates involves both apparatus (the use of spring resistant machines) and mat exercises designed to use the body’s power center. Participants progress from beginner to intermediate and finally advanced, achieving impressive results along the way.
